1. Who these terms are between

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply between you and the operator of liveordiebaby.com and the LODB brand (“LODB”, “Live Or Die Baby”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By using the Website, creating an account, participating in community features, or downloading LODB software from the Website, you agree to these Terms to the extent they apply to that activity.

If you do not agree, do not use the relevant Website service or download.

2. What LODB is

LODB is self-hosted media-server software and related client software. Depending on the release, this can include the Windows Customer Server, Linux server, Docker deployment including a dedicated UGREEN DXP4800 Plus image, Windows Desktop Player, Android client and future iOS client.

LODB does not provide a catalogue of films, television programmes, music or other copyrighted media. You provide and control the media stored in or made available through your own server.

3. Eligibility and authority

You must have legal capacity to agree to these Terms. If you are using LODB on behalf of a business or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so. If local law requires a parent or guardian to agree on behalf of a younger user, that permission must be obtained.

4. Website use

You may use the public Website for lawful purposes, including learning about LODB, reading documentation and obtaining official downloads. You must not:

• attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, servers, administration areas or other users’ information;
• interfere with the Website, deliberately overload it, introduce malware, exploit vulnerabilities or bypass security controls;
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your authority;
• use automated access in a way that materially disrupts the Website or evades reasonable technical restrictions; or
• use the Website or community areas for unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, abusive or deliberately harmful activity.

5. Accounts, passwords and community features

If you create a Website account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account unless it results from a failure for which we are legally responsible. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Community features are provided so users can discuss LODB and related topics. We may moderate, restrict or remove content or access where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, comply with law, address abuse or security risks, or protect other users and the service.

6. Software downloads and installation

Use official LODB downloads or another source you trust. Check the stated system requirements and, where provided, file hashes before installation. You are responsible for deciding whether your Windows PC, Linux host, Docker environment, UGREEN/NAS device, network and storage are suitable.

Back up important LODB data before upgrades, migrations, major configuration changes or operating-system changes. Follow the documentation for persistent data volumes and application/data separation.

7. Software licence

LODB software may be distributed under product-specific licence terms. Where a separate End User Licence Agreement, licence notice, open-source licence, purchase term or app-store licence is supplied with a product, that document governs the use of that software in addition to these Website Terms. If there is a direct conflict, the product-specific licence governs the software-specific issue.

You must not remove proprietary notices, misuse LODB branding, distribute counterfeit LODB builds or represent a modified third-party build as an official LODB release.

8. Your media, copyright and sharing

You are responsible for the media and other material you add to, stream from or share through your own LODB server. You must have the rights or permissions required for your use. LODB’s ability to organise, transcode, stream or synchronise a file does not grant you rights in that file.

You are also responsible for deciding who may access your server and for configuring user permissions appropriately.

9. Watch Together

Watch Together is intended to synchronise playback and associated room features such as participant presence, chat, microphone or camera functions where supported. You remain responsible for:

• having the right to play or share the selected media with room participants;
• inviting only people you intend to give access to;
• the content you send through room chat, camera or microphone features; and
• following applicable privacy, copyright and communications laws.

Network conditions, browser/device capabilities, codecs and participant connectivity can affect synchronisation and media quality.

10. Self-hosting, remote access and security

LODB is designed to give you control of your own server, which also means you control much of its security and network exposure. You should keep the host operating system and LODB software updated, use strong credentials, configure firewalls appropriately, protect administrative accounts, use HTTPS for internet-facing access where appropriate, and avoid exposing services publicly unless you understand the security implications.

The Windows Desktop Player can connect to a server by LAN IP, computer name or configured domain/HTTPS address. You are responsible for the security of any remote-access configuration you create.

11. Updates, previews and changing features

LODB is actively developed. Features, user interfaces, supported formats, hardware acceleration, third-party integrations and platform availability can change between releases. Features marked beta, preview, release candidate, experimental or “coming soon” are not promises of a particular release date or final specification.

We may release updates for security, compatibility, reliability or feature changes. Documentation may be updated to match the current supported release.

12. Third-party products and services

LODB can interact with products or services that we do not control, including operating systems, browsers, app stores, metadata providers, network equipment, Docker, NAS software and other third-party components. Their availability, terms, licensing, privacy practices and technical behaviour are controlled by their respective providers.

References to a third-party product or platform do not imply ownership of or endorsement by that provider unless expressly stated.

13. Purchases, licences and consumer rights

If a paid LODB licence, digital product or service is offered, the price, licence duration and material purchase conditions should be shown before purchase. Any additional checkout or licence terms presented at the time of purchase also apply.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove, restrict or misstate statutory rights that apply to consumers. Any exclusion, limitation, refund condition or digital-content term applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

14. Availability

We aim to keep the Website, documentation and official downloads available, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, security incidents, hosting failures, network problems or third-party outages can temporarily affect access.

Your self-hosted server is operated on hardware and networks you control and can continue to be affected by your own host, storage, network and configuration even when the public LODB Website is available.

15. Intellectual property

The LODB name, Live Or Die Baby branding, original Website content, documentation, artwork and proprietary software components are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. Third-party components retain their own licences and notices.

Your own media remains yours or subject to the rights of its respective owner. Using LODB does not transfer ownership of your media to LODB.

16. Disclaimers and liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control, unsupported or modified configurations, third-party service failures, your network or hardware, unlawful user-supplied media, failure to maintain reasonable backups, or security exposure created by your own server/network configuration.

Where the law gives you mandatory remedies for digital content or services, those remedies are unaffected.

17. Suspension or termination of Website access

You may stop using the Website at any time. We may suspend or terminate Website account/community access where reasonably necessary because of a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, security risk, unlawful activity, abuse of other users, or legal requirement. Where appropriate, we may give notice or an opportunity to address the issue.

Removing a Website account does not automatically delete or control a self-hosted LODB server that you operate separately.

18. Privacy, cookies and trackers

Our use of cookies and similar website technologies is described in the Cookies & Tracker Policy. Any separate Privacy Policy or privacy notice presented for a Website account, payment, support process or software feature also applies to that processing.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to LODB, the Website, the law, security requirements or the way services are provided. The current version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes should not be applied retrospectively in a way that removes rights already accrued where the law prevents that.

20. Governing law

These Terms are intended to operate under the laws applicable to the LODB Website operator in England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. If you are a consumer, nothing in this section deprives you of rights or jurisdiction protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
